The creators of AI-sound for Phantom Liberty said they may take up the development of voice acting for Baldur’s Gate 3
Today the news has been released about the pretty high-quality AI-sound for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty from Redpax. In the comments, many users wondered: will the author be able to do something similar for other games, for example Red Dead Redemption 2 or Baldur’s Gate 3.
It turns out that the authors of the voice acting have already answered this question in December in their Discord channel. According to Redpax, they made voice acting for Phantom Liberty together, writing more than 20 programs for this that helped them in the automation of the process.
When they were asked to do similar voice acting for Baldur’s Gate 3, the author replied that he was not yet sure whether they were ready to take up such a large -scale project. Despite the fact that the neural network is now better trained, and the software is written, the main problem is that the project from Larian is many times more dialogues than in Phantom Liberty.
To create voice acting, they have to rent a GPU-model to generate their voice, which bypass them in a round sum. For example, to create voice acting for Phantom Liberty, Pavel spent about 270 thousand rubles of his own money (and the answer was written at the time of release 0.2 versions of voice acting, for the development of the following versions, the amount most likely increased still)
Pavel said that the exact answer will be taken for Baldur’s Gate 3 he will give in January. If they decide to make AI-sound for the game Larian, then this will definitely not do without opening fees. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that the deadline for the development of such an AI and the amount of fees will be almost certainly lower than in the case of the development of professional dubbing with actors.
For example, the Gamesvoice studio said that it will take about 10 million rubles to create dubbing for RDR 2. Probably for Baldur’s Gate 3, it would be even higher, which automatically puts a cross on creating such a project using professional actors, since such amounts were most likely never gained. What amount is required to rent a GPU -model and whether the guys will take up such a project – it will become clear very soon.
